Inspection reports / Customers

For motorists and vehicle buyers

You do not need
another opinion.
You need a record.

When a vehicle purchase, previous repair or recurring fault has left you unsure what to believe, we inspect what can actually be observed, tested and recorded.

THE REPORT SEPARATES
01What you were toldPurchase, repair and symptom history
02What we can proveObservations, testing and photographs
03What happens nextPriorities, limitations and sensible options

Start with your situation

Clarity before
you spend again.

You are not paying us to take a side. You are paying for a careful inspection that makes the next decision clearer.

BUYING

Before money changes hands

Condition checks, diagnostics, photographs and written findings at the agreed level—before you commit to a used car or van.

POST-REPAIR

The warning returned

Compare the original complaint and available repair evidence with what the vehicle is doing now.

DISPUTE

Accounts do not match

Record the timeline, current condition and technical evidence without turning assumptions into accusations.

SAFETY

You are unsure whether to drive

Accessible safety findings are prioritised. If continued use appears unsafe, we say so and explain the recovery route.

What to expect

One clear route.
No detective work required.

  1. 01

    Tell us the decision

Send the registration, mileage, timeline, warning lights, invoices, messages and existing reports. You do not need to diagnose the vehicle first.

  2. 02

    We agree the inspection scope

Mobile attendance may be suitable. If workshop equipment, dismantling or extended testing is needed, that boundary is agreed before further work.

  3. 03

We inspect and preserve the evidence

Relevant physical checks, diagnostics, live data, photographs and road testing are used where appropriate and possible.

  4. 04

    You receive a usable answer

Findings, limitations and next steps are written so you—and any business handling the matter—can understand what the evidence does and does not show.

Clear starting points

Pay for the service
you actually need.

INITIAL DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTIONfrom £120

A first fact-find for a current fault, warning light or symptom.

PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTIONfrom £149

Vehicle condition, diagnostics and written findings at the agreed level.

INDEPENDENT TECHNICAL REPORTfrom £295

Structured written evidence for post-repair comparisons or dispute-related questions.

Final cost depends on vehicle type, location, access, testing time and report depth. Recovery, collection, delivery, dismantling and specialist testing are quoted separately where required.

The honest boundary

A report records evidence.
It does not manufacture certainty.

No inspection can expose every concealed, intermittent or future defect. We state what was checked, what was observed and what could not be concluded. That limitation makes the report more useful—not less.

Before you book

Questions motorists
usually ask.

Do I need to know what is wrong before I call?

No. Tell us what happened, what the vehicle is doing and what decision you need to make. Defining the right question is part of the service.

Will the report prove that a dealer or garage is responsible?

Not automatically. We record the accessible technical evidence within an agreed scope. Responsibility and any remedy depend on the complete facts and applicable process.

Can you attend the seller, my home or my workplace?

Yes, where permission, access, lighting and ground conditions are suitable. Testing that requires lifting equipment, dismantling or extended workshop diagnosis will be explained separately.

Is this an MOT or a legal expert-witness report?

No. It is an independent technical inspection and report. It does not replace an MOT and our standard report is not a CPR Part 35 expert-witness report.

Can Engine Clean repair the vehicle afterwards?

Where appropriate, yes. Inspection findings come first. Further workshop diagnosis or repair is separately authorised and priced so you remain in control.

Start with the decision in front of you.

We’ll explain what can be established.
