Engine Clean · Tech in Your Pocket

Already have the fault codes?
Get the right next step.

For motorists with a diagnostic report, owners using their own code reader, and garages that need a second technical opinion. Search the codes free, then ask an experienced technician when the answer is not obvious.

Your route from fault codes to a repair plan

What Tech in Your Pocket actually does.

A real technician. A focused 30-minute inspection.

We review the evidence before asking for payment. If the case is suitable, you speak to the right experienced technician and leave with practical next steps—not an automated diagnosis or a list of parts to try.

  1. 01
    START HERE

    Bring what you already have

Enter the vehicle, fault codes and symptoms. Add an existing diagnostic report or the results from your own OBD reader—there is no need to buy another scan just to open a case.

  2. 02
    BUILD THE PICTURE

    Send the useful evidence

We ask motorists for the full code list, dashboard warnings and an engine-bay overview. Garage cases receive extra requests for relevant live data, measurements or test results.

  3. 03
    HUMAN REVIEW

The right technician reviews the case

An experienced vehicle technician looks at the codes, symptoms, history and evidence together. The aim is to understand the fault pattern and prevent unnecessary “parts cannon” repairs.

  4. 04
    CASE UPDATE

Your EC reference arrives by email

The confirmation email shows that review is underway. Please allow up to 24 hours for a technician to assess the case and email whether remote inspection is suitable.

  5. 05
    ONLY WHEN ACCEPTED

Pay £39.99, then we call you

If remote help is suitable, the technician’s update email contains the secure SumUp payment link. Once payment is received, we phone you to arrange the date and time.

  6. 06
    DESTINATION

    Your 30-minute technical inspection

Talk through the problem live, complete safe practical checks and receive a simple written repair plan. If the vehicle needs physical testing, we say so and can discuss the next handover with your consent.

Start with your fault codes

Free multi-code lookup

A fault code is a clue.
Not a diagnosis.

Enter one code or paste several together. Search the definitions first, then prepare a technician case if the results still do not explain what the vehicle is doing.

WHEN THE CODES DO NOT TELL THE WHOLE STORY

Put an experienced technician in your pocket.

Share the codes, symptoms and evidence. We organise the case and match it to the right technical experience.

£39.99 introductory technician reviewIntended standard price £69.99. Payment is requested only after the case is accepted for review.

Who this helps

A useful second look—without pretending a code is a diagnosis.

Modern vehicles can record several related fault codes. One failed circuit, poor supply or incorrect sensor reading can trigger symptoms across multiple systems. We review the information together rather than selling a guess.

01

You already paid for diagnostics

Upload the report and explain what you were told. We help turn the codes and symptoms into sensible questions and next checks.

02

You own an OBD reader

Paste several codes at once, add the symptoms and share clear evidence. A reader retrieves clues; the technician helps interpret them.

03

Your garage needs backup

Share scan data, measurements and work already completed for an independent second look without cutting across your customer relationship.

Questions answered

Before you submit a case.

What does the £39.99 introductory price cover?

It covers one remote technical inspection limited to 30 minutes. Please allow up to 24 hours for the initial case review. If remote inspection is suitable, the technician emails the update and secure payment link; once paid, we phone to arrange the date and time.

Is the service a guaranteed diagnosis?

No. We are not physically testing the vehicle, so remote guidance cannot replace confirmed in-person diagnosis. If physical testing is needed, we will say so.

Can I enter more than one fault code?

Yes. In the lookup, paste codes separated by spaces or commas. The case form also accepts line breaks. Related codes often make more sense when reviewed together with the symptoms and vehicle history.

What should I upload?

A diagnostic report or clear screenshots are most useful. Add dashboard or engine-bay images only when they help explain the fault. Never carry out unsafe checks.

What happens if the vehicle needs physical testing?

We will say so. With your consent, Engine Clean can discuss workshop diagnostics or the information can be handed to an appropriate partner garage.

Can garages use the service?

Yes. Garage cases can include scan data, live-data captures, measurements and work already completed so the reviewing technician starts from the correct point.
