What ECU cloning means
Cloning transfers supported data from an original control unit to a compatible donor so the replacement can retain the information required for that application. The original must be readable enough for the necessary data to be recovered, and the donor must be suitable.
What programming and coding mean
A compatible replacement or superseded unit may instead be prepared and programmed as a replacement ECU, then coded or configured to the vehicle. This route can be appropriate when a straight clone is not possible or not the correct technical solution.
Why two ECUs are not automatically a cloning job
Even apparently identical cases can contain different hardware or software. Both labels should be supplied where possible, followed by inspection or reading. Sending two units tells us what is available; it does not predetermine the process.
What happens after the bench work
Some units can be returned ready for the next fitting stage; others require vehicle-side coding, security procedures, adaptation or final verification. We explain what is included for the specific job before work proceeds.
