Start with the timing and water path
Record the weather, parking angle, areas cleaned or repaired and exactly when the symptom begins or disappears. Windscreen seals, drains, roof systems, door membranes, lamp units and previous bodywork may be relevant depending on the vehicle.
Water damage changes over time
A wet connection may cause an immediate short, added resistance or network disturbance. Later, corrosion can continue after the area looks dry. Deposits and damaged pins may remain even when the original leak is no longer obvious.
Protect the evidence and the vehicle
Photograph visible moisture and warning messages where safe. Avoid repeatedly switching systems on if water is near electrical components, and do not use uncontrolled heat. Disconnecting power can itself carry vehicle-specific risks, so seek advice first.
Repair both the entry route and electrical damage
Drying or repairing a module without addressing how water arrived invites the problem back. Equally, sealing a leak does not automatically restore corroded wiring or connectors. Both sides need assessing and the completed repair needs verification.
