Confirm the complaint first
We review how quickly the battery discharges, recent work, accessories, charging behaviour and when the problem began. Battery and charging checks establish whether an excessive parked draw is actually the right direction.
Let the vehicle enter its normal parked state
Doors, bonnet and boot circuits may need controlled preparation so the vehicle believes it is closed while test access remains possible. Keys and connected devices are kept away where they could wake the vehicle. Shutdown time varies by vehicle.
Measure current without losing the event
The method may use an ammeter, current clamp, voltage-drop technique, data logger or oscilloscope depending on the size and timing of the draw. The important measurement is not simply the lowest reading—it is what happens across the complete monitoring period.
Narrow the responsible circuit or module
Once abnormal activity is captured, circuit isolation, thermal inspection, network information and targeted tests help identify what remained awake or switched back on. The suspected component is then verified before a repair is recommended.

What level of parked current is normal?
There is no honest universal figure. Vehicle design, equipment and shutdown stage matter, so the measurement is assessed against suitable information and the observed pattern.
Can an aftermarket accessory cause a drain?
Yes. Trackers, cameras, audio equipment, chargers and other accessories can contribute, but factory systems can also remain awake. Testing decides rather than assuming.
Will pulling one fuse always identify the problem?
No. Removing a fuse may wake networks or remove power from several items. Isolation needs to be interpreted alongside the current pattern.
