A 2014 black Vauxhall Adam arrived by recovery truck with no ECU communication, a fluttering instrument cluster, blackouts and only brief flashes of information.
The first visible problem
Loose and dislodged relays were found and correctly repositioned, but the vehicle still would not start. Finding one fault does not mean it is the only fault.
The decisive test
The ECU was powered directly at 12.7 volts through a breakout box. It remained unresponsive, confirming a dead ECU rather than blaming the vehicle wiring without proof.
The repair route
A donor ECU was planned for programming to the vehicle as a more economical route. This story records the confirmed diagnosis and proposed next stage; it does not pretend the outcome happened before Part 2.
