This is one of the most expensive misunderstandings in vehicle repair: a code description mentions a component, the component is replaced, and the same symptom returns. The code was evidence—but it was treated as a shopping list.

The component may be reporting honestly

A sensor can report a value outside the expected range because the physical system really is outside that range. Airflow, pressure, temperature, voltage, mechanical timing or another actuator may be responsible. The sensor is the messenger, not automatically the failure.

The circuit includes more than the part

Power, ground, signal wiring, connectors, control-unit drivers and network messages may all sit behind one code description. A new component connected to the same damaged circuit can produce the same result.

Replacement can introduce a second question

Part specification, quality, adaptation, coding, calibration, installation and disturbed connections may need checking. That does not prove the replacement part or installer is at fault; it defines what must be verified.

Restart from evidence

We review what the vehicle originally did, what was replaced, why it was chosen and what changed afterwards. Testing then follows the current evidence instead of automatically fitting a second version of the same part.

Does the same code prove the replacement part is bad?

No. The wider circuit, operating conditions, installation and original diagnosis all need considering.

Should I return to the garage that fitted it?

Often the original repairer should be given an opportunity to review the work. Keep the invoice and diagnostic records and explain exactly what has returned.
